01The short version
Price Bolo is built privacy-first:
- Your data stays on your device. Watchlists, alerts, search history and preferences are stored locally in the app.
- Photos are transient. An image you snap for visual search is held briefly on our storage so that our image-matching provider can read it, then deleted. It is never used to build a profile of you.
- We do not sell personal data. Not to advertisers, not to retailers, not to anyone.
The rest of this policy explains the details. It is issued by Price Bolo (“we”, “us”), the operator of the Price Bolo app and website (the “Service”).
02What we collect
Information stored on your device only
- Your watchlist and price-alert settings;
- your in-app search history and recently viewed products;
- your grocery baskets and store preferences;
- app settings such as theme and notification choices.
Information sent from your device to third-party services
- Product queries and links you look up — these go directly from your device to the third-party price service that supplies our price data; we do not receive or store them;
- photos you submit for visual search, which our third-party image-matching provider reads from a temporary link (see section 4);
- your location or the pincode you enter, which is passed to the quick-commerce store’s own page so it can price your basket for your area.
Information processed on our servers
- An anonymous account identifier, created automatically so your alerts work — it is not linked to your name, email or phone;
- items you set a price alert on (product reference, title, image and your target price), so our servers can watch the price while your phone is asleep;
- a notification token for your device, if you enable alerts and allow notifications;
- anything you send us through the in-app feedback form, including the contact detail you optionally provide.
Technical & diagnostic data
- We do not run analytics or crash-reporting software inside the app. The app version and platform are attached to feedback you choose to send, so we can reproduce the problem you are reporting.
We do not ask for your name, contact list, or payment details — purchases happen on the retailer’s platform, not in Price Bolo.
03On-device storage
Price Bolo is designed so that your personal usage data — watchlists, alerts, history, baskets — lives locally on your device, not in a cloud account. There is no mandatory sign-up. If you uninstall the app, this locally stored data is deleted along with it (subject to your device’s backup settings, which you control).
If we introduce an optional sync or account feature in future, it will be opt-in, and this policy will be updated before launch.
04Photos & visual search
Visual search works by matching your photo against products already listed on the public web, using a third-party image-matching provider. Because that provider reads the image from a link rather than from your phone, the photo is uploaded to a temporary location on our storage, given an unguessable one-time web address, and deleted once the search has run. It is used only transiently. Specifically, we do not:
- keep your photos once the matching request is complete;
- use your photos to train models that identify people;
- use your photos for advertising, attach them to your identity, or share them with retailers.
Please only submit photos you have the right to use, and avoid submitting photos of other people without their consent.
05How we use data
- To provide the Service — fetch prices, build charts, compute verdicts, find visual matches and compare baskets;
- to send you the price-drop notifications you asked for;
- to read and act on feedback you send us, and to reply if you left a contact detail;
- to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not build cross-app profiles of you.
07App permissions
- Camera / photos — only for visual search, only when you initiate it;
- Notifications — only for the price alerts you set;
- Location (optional) — only to price groceries for your area. Quick-commerce stores deliver from the nearest dark store, so the store’s own page is given your location to work out what it can deliver to you. You can skip this entirely and type a pincode instead.
Every permission is optional and can be revoked in your device settings at any time.
08Retention & deletion
- On-device data: retained until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app;
- visual-search photos: deleted as soon as the matching request completes, and swept automatically if a deletion does not go through;
- price-alert items and your notification token: kept while the alert exists, and removed when you delete the alert or the token stops working;
- feedback you send us: kept while we act on it.

09Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and least-privilege infrastructure — to protect data in transit and the limited data we process. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for minimal collection so there is little to lose in the first place.
10Children
The Service is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at hello@pricebolo.in and we will delete it.
11Your rights
Depending on applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with the relevant authority in India. Since most of your data lives on your device, many of these rights are directly in your hands — but for anything we process, write to hello@pricebolo.in and we will respond within a reasonable period.
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app or on this page.
