The MRP anchor
The discount is calculated from the MRP, which can sit far above the price the product has actually been selling at for months.
Catch it: compare with the price history, not the MRP.
Sale banners show you the MRP. Price Bolo shows you what the product actually cost last week, last month and last year, so a dressed-up discount can't fool you.

None of these is illegal, and not every sale does them. But they're common enough that a big red percentage on its own tells you very little.

A price creeps up in the days before a sale, so the "sale price" is really just the old price wearing a badge.
Catch it: look at the last 1–3 months on the chart.
The headline price may need a specific bank card, EMI plan or exchange. Without it, you pay more.
Catch it: judge the listed price first; treat a card offer as a bonus.
A badge can claim a record low without showing you the record. Sometimes the same price was there a few weeks ago.
Catch it: Price Bolo shows the actual lowest price and the date it happened.

Questions
Some are, some aren't. A discount is usually calculated from the MRP, which can be far above what the product actually sold for. The honest test is the price history: compare the sale price with what the product cost over the last few weeks and months. Price Bolo shows that history for free.
Install Price Bolo, then share the product from the Amazon or Flipkart app to Price Bolo, or paste its link into the search bar. You'll see its price chart over 1 month to all-time, the lowest price and when it happened, and a Buy-or-Wait verdict.
If the sale price is at or near the lowest the product has been in recent months, it's usually a good time to buy. If it sits above its usual price, waiting is often smarter. Price Bolo's verdict does this comparison for you, and a price-drop alert can tell you if it falls further.
